Museo Pambata
During the field trip students showed great self-direction and were responsible as we made our way through the museum. They also had a great time exploring the different environments that the museum had to offer, and continued to research about their body part for their project.

The Dynamites Dragons celebrated all their success and growth from this first semester at their ISM themed party. We used our critical thinking skills from our materials unit to help us build strong and stable houses. We made postcards to mail to family and friends, and we showed our ISM spirit with our bearcat face paints. Congrats Dynamite Dragons on completing your first semester of Kindergarten.

Cardboard Expo Reflection
Kindergarten students from all classes reflected on the creativity they saw at our expo. This video was shared with all elementary school students at our ES assembly.

Kindergarten Cardboard Expo
Students shared the some of the projects they have made with cardboard. They used their communication skills and critical thinking skills to help answer questions about their project. They also went to see the other projects and asked their friends questions on their design process for their projects.

Will It Bounce or Break?
During our materials unit our Kindergarteners have been learning a lot about materials and all their different properties. For this experiment they made predictions of which objects would bounce or break by first researching, and observing each object throughout the week. Then our Kindergarteners got to finally get their results on which objects would bounce or break as we dropped each object from the second floor. Take a look at our slide show and some videos to see which objects broke, and which ones bounced.

Nature Walk
Today the Dynamite Dragons walk around ISM looking for natural objects. They then came back to the room and as a team worked to sort their objects and label the baskets. We reflected as a class about what we found and how we could change the objects into different things.

The Start of Swimming
The Dynamite Dragons had fun this week in PE as they were introduced to the pool. Lots of big smiles as they work on their gross motor leg kicks and arm circles.

Restaurant Inquiry Group
The girls of the restaurant group finally have their grand opening of their ISM Pancake Restaurant. They asked their costumers for their orders, served their orders, and clean up after their customers. Their restaurant was a big success as every single costumer said they wanted more.

Weather Inquiry Group
Students in the weather used their research skills to look at books, and computers to find out about weather and why it acts the way it does. To show their learning they decided to use digital media to make a video about their findings. Take a look at what they made.

Airplane Inquiry Group
For our inquiry unit some of our students chose to research about planes. They read books, used the internet and created their own airplanes to study the flight that different airplanes made. In the end our airplane group made an e-book about the things they love most about planes. Listen to their story.

We have been learning a lot about plants and how to take care of gardens as we get ready to plant our very own garden. Today we met up with our 3rd grade buddies to work on making a plant book. This helped us reflect on what we have learned and some students even planned what they wanted to plant in our garden. Take a look at these interactions.

What shapes we found on our shape hunt. Connecting what we are learning about shapes to the world around us. Check out what our five groups found.

View our Dynamite Dragons title pages of their first completed piece of writing. They were so excited to show their families and 3rd grade buddies their first published piece they did in Writing Workshop. Stay tuned for more pieces by the Dynamite Dragons!!!

In this video you will see our Dynamite Dragons finding lots of signs around ISM that they can read. We talked about how our reading strategies can not only be used to help us read books, but that we can also use them to help us with world reading connections. Each child got one page in our classroom e-book to say what they saw on their sign walk. They used their reading strategies, the pictures, and the letters they saw to help them understand what the signs were telling them. Take a look and see what each of them found around ISM.
